President’s Message

It was a great pleasure for me to take the initiative to form the Noakhali Zilla School Alumni in 2002 with the help of other friends(seniors and juniors). The aim of this initiative is to bring all Zilla school students under one umbrella and to create a stronger bond with each other. And ultimately in 2003, we had organized a huge program to celebrate the 150th year of Zilla schools establishment. A large number of teachers and ex-students had attended this program. Ranging from doctors, Engineers, professors, chartered accountants, politicians, writers, journalists, business persons, Social activists and so on. Noakhali Zilla School is one of the oldest schools in Bangladesh. The school has been producing vastly successful students and the students uphold the name and fame of the school with their contribution in different sectors around the country and the world. We want to showcase these brilliant students’ achievements to the current students in the effort to encourage and inspire them. And also showcase our brilliant teachers who worked diligently to ensure a successful and secure future for us.  I am proud to be one of the students of Noakhali Zilla school. It has given me unforgettable memories and tremendous opportunities for which I am forever grateful.

May this Alumni flourish and live on for years.

My deepest condolence to those students and teachers and staffs who have passed away, may Allah grant them Jannah. And wishing all the luck to the current students and Alumni’s.

BRIEF HISTORY OF NOAKHALI ZILLA SCHOOL

Noakhali Zilla School is one of the most ancient educational institutions in greater Noakhali as well as in Bangladesh. During the British rule in 1850, Mr.Jones, a govt. official founded a school in the old town of Noakhali (At present an area near Kalitara Bazar ) without any govt. fund. British govt. wanted to spread modern European education throughout the Indian sub-continent. In this regard, they capitalized a new education policy As a Part of this policy, they decided to establish a govt. school in every district. But in Noakhali, they did not establish any new one, rather they nationalized the school founded by Mr. Jones and renamed it as Noakhali Zilla School. In 1920 the mighty Meghna engulfed the near-by area of the school So its existance was at stake…..
